Elements – run anywhere!
The second generation of Salmings first off-trail and OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) shoe features a lighter and more simplistic upper construction, decreasing the weight by some 30g – 265g (Euro 44 men’s) compared to its predecessor. The body of the shoe features the same mesh quality as the OT Comp model, providing an enhanced water drainage property and excellent breathability.
When Elements was added to the Salming range we aimed at creating a performance off-trail shoe which incorporates Salming’s running concept and principles, enabling you to run anywhere, or swim for that matter. Spring 2019 we continue on that path and if you are looking for an intimate trail experience where your whole body is in tune with the ground and its surroundings – Elements is your top pick!
The responsive and flexible RunLite™ midsole with a bomber traction outsole allows for an ultimate off-trail and swimrun experience. Elements – run anywhere!
The upper is designed with a 2 layer sandwich construction and an ExoSkeleton construction on top of that. The first inner layer next to the foot has a big air mesh featured in order to create a comfortable plush feel. On top of that is a thin net mesh that enables an excellent water drainage but at the same time keeping out sand and gravel. The outer layer is an ExoSkeleton unit which has the lacing area integrated into it, holding the foot in place and creating an unsurpassed fit.
The distance from heel to the ball of foot (62% of the shoe) has been designed with extra stability, which ends in the so-called “ballet” line, a 75° angle. In front of the 75° line, we have equipped the shoe with greater flexibility to stimulate the foot’s natural movements. The TGS 62/75° feature assures that the shoe bends in exactly the right places, stimulating the foot’s natural lateral and forward movements.
The Exo Skeleton design stabilizes the foot in lateral movements and relieves pressure at the MTP joints (Metatarsophalangeal joints). This part of the design construction eliminates friction and reduces the impact of the side forces in the soft parts of the foot, especially underneath the forefoot.
The midsole features the RunLite™ foam midsole material which offers lower weight and better energy return from the very first step.
A new light weight outsole made in TOC66 (Traction Outsole Control 66) compound featuring 8mm high lugs - has been developed to provide the best possible grip on both dry and wet surfaces, as well as on gravel, rocks and roots.
The toe box is more roomy in order to provide a possibility for the fore foot to expand properly in the landing phase, making it more effective in a biomechanic perspective.
Heel drop is essentially a measurement for how fat a running shoe’s heel feels. It’s short for “heel to toe drop,” shortened to “drop.” It tells you how much taller the heel is than the forefoot. Example: A shoe with a 22-mm thick heel and a 18-mm thick forefoot will have a 4-mm heel-toe drop. Salming Running shoes never has higher drop than 6mm as we believe a higher drop negatively interferes with your natural running stride and makes it hard to find a perfect running form.
A special PU area covering the lower part of the shoe upper protecting it from sharp rocks and branches thus both increasing the durability of the shoe and adds confidence to the runner.
Our heel cup is specifically designed to add minimal weight to your shoes, creating a transformable, adaptive fit.
